Windows 7 Extended Security Updates Now Available to All Businesses
Microsoft is making Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESUs) available to businesses of any size, instead of just larger companies with volume licensing agreements.
Microsoft had announced it would no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7 after January 14, 2020. However, in a decision aimed at assisting the changeover to Windows 10, all businesses will be able to buy ESUs through the cloud solution provider (CSP) program as of December 1, 2019.
"Today we are announcing that, through January 2023, we will extend the availability of paid Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) to businesses of all sizes," said Microsoft in a statement. "The Windows 7 ESU will be sold on a per-device basis with the price increasing each year."
Microsoft hasn't outlined the pricing structure for the extended ECUs and asks customers to "contact your Account Team CE for pricing and ordering information tailored to specific customer scenarios."
